Chill Tribe Records is a Norwegian label based in Oslo and created in the end of 2004 by a legendary reviewer, party organiser and promoter of different kinds of psychedelic music - Per Kristian Slagsvold (aka PKS). PKS is also a DJ who performed at many well-knows festivals in the world, f.e. Sonica Electronic Music Festival (Italy), Voov Experience (Germany), Full Moon Festival (Germany), Soulclipse Total Solar Eclipse Festival (Turkey) and Boom Festival (Portugal).

REVIEW

It's difficult to explicitly define Chill Tribe music, maybe besides one simple comment: it's a chillout that manoeuvre around various psychedelic shades. So we've got ambient, dub, psybient (psychill), psybreaks, world music and also a lot of more experimental and a lot of less experimental sounds. From among six CDs released so far - first three of them were compilations by PKS, next three of them were single artist' albums - only one deserve for a words of ruthless critic and it's a compilation titled "Ear Pleasure" (2007). This is definitely the worst release from Chill Tribe because this CD is lack musical cohesion. This full cohesion is also missed, admittedly, in a debut compilation "Quality Relaxation" (2005), but this one, as well as the second compilation by Chill Tribe - which is "Relaxed Journeys" (2006), contains very many compositions that could be directly described as perfect and with a proud introduce as the most representative music' type of downtempo side of psy-scene. It's worth to add that all compilations by Chill Tribe have one's own accord an interesting, unique character, because they have got 8-pages booklets with biographies of involved artists. While conceptional albums by Wombatmusic ("Shameful Silence", 2007), Polyploid ("Grow Your Own", 2007) and Ian Ion ("Gringo Locomotion", 2008) shows that the label isn't closed for a very less mainstream and more demanding from the listener musical paths. In the shortets sum up over the aspect of artist' CDs released by Chill Tribe can be state: this is one of a few labels that artistically risks. And up this moment that artistic risk, the biggest virtue of Chill Tribe, brings a very good results.
