[ the second topic ] --> (R)EVOLUTION IN THE EXTENDED DISCOGRAPHY Of course the work connected with the artists pages update hasn't been finished yet, but despite that, on 8th of October I decided to extend the range of bringing changes and the whole work almost from its beginning. I feel a great motivation to do the changes I will be describing in a moment, even if it take me a few hundred hours of work more to do than it was previously intended in case of the Artists section. In consequence: my deadlines for publishing another new things related to the site (a new text about the scene, to give an example) are shifted; unfortunately. Well, it's not about time here after all, but to changing the site all the time into something that has better shapes. "Better": means more lucid, more informative, more aesthetic as well. So, at the beginning click HERE to see once again how the releases description looks like in the current layout of the extended discography. The example are two versions of Astral Projection's "Dancing Galaxy". And now see, by clicking HERE, how the new layout looks like, which will be discussed in a moment, though by intuition everything can be decoded by oneself in a few seconds. The change number one. The base change: the labels that released a specific CD are splitted, so more info about their individual versions can be bringed from now on. From the left side there will be a flag of a country where a CD was released, then a release year, and then a label(s) name(s), while at the end a catalogue number(s). The change number two. Below a bold release name there will be noted a release's format (CD, DVD, Digital etc.) and a release's type (Album, Compilation, EP etc.). The change number three. In the showed example, "Dancing Galaxy" in the Transient Records version has the stars directly below the release name and its format/type description. These means, of course, the release rating. This rating will be found only in case of that given CD which has a review at the site - only under a version which was reviewed, because sometimes different versions of, as if the same, album could bring at least lightly different ratings (f.e. because of an additional track). Most of the people search for the rating only, so I've decided that mere trifle can help, although personally I still haven't decided if the ultimate version of the site should keep the stars ratings (in other words: only a text in a review, or a text and stars in a review - like I have it all the time). The above changes bring, in my opinion, definitely better clarity and informativeness, also aesthetic is better - but, unfortunately in that last case, maybe not entirely. The above examples are connected with Opera 10.0, meanwhile appearance in other two most known browsers is different a little. The less difference is in INTERNET EXPLORER 6.0, but already considerable in MOZILLA FIREFOX 3.5.3. In the Internet Explorer, the stars are not looking too good, while a big problem in the Firefox are the flags which are under the line where they should be. These are details, of course, but I couldn't manage to eliminate them. I'm not the HTML master... Anyway, that's the only one failure in the Psybient.net's adaptation into the mentioned browsers versions. [ the third topic ] ------------------------> PLANS FOR 2010 The essential change in the extended discography of the Artists section means delays of other things, as was said, so bringing up everything, my priorities for 2010 are: - ending that update of all artists discographies - April, - ending the update of all labels discographies (very probable, also a change in the way of how the releases are being described) - June, - the ultimate complement of all lv.1 artists pages (the ultimate checking their discographies and writing a few words about them instead of that "txt" note) - August, - publishing the completely new text in the Scene section - October. "The problem" with the Scene section is based on that thing, that I want to include there now plenty of samples-examples. Making them demand very many hours. I haven't even started creating them, because the text about the scene is not ready yet. (Simple thing: I haven't listened yet to some albums, I think, I definitely should listen to). My plan is that text and examples which will be published in this section in 2010, will be there for a few years, so I want to do it exceptionally well, since the next text and examples will be already the ultimate thing in this topic and will be published when the site will be closing. [ the fourth topic ] --------------------> THE END OF THE SITE Probably always "the end" sounds menacingly, but to that "of the site" really is a long way to go. Life is changing all the time; we never know what will happen - sometimes our interests change as well. I think that the time has come to reveal when the site will be builded definitely. Although not all of my plans were said - the most far-reaching I've done that only in the Artists section, then already for over a year a have a steady vision of how and when the Psybient.net will end. My optimistic version intends 2015, the realistic version - 2018, and the pessimistic one - 2020. So between the optimistic and pessimistic there's five years difference. It's taken from "life": sometimes you want to work many days without a break, however, sometimes burnout follows, sometimes rest is needed, and sometimes simply you don't have a time. As the truism has been said: life is changing all the time and so the last, fourth aspect of "life" experience demands to be underlined: lack of time; prose. But I've decided to show you that years of approximate end to make You ultimately aware that though maybe the site is already big from Your perspective, then I see just an outline. Very many things will come and so You should be happy as I am when it comes to think about what the future will bring to us! My plan never was to write reviews only, but to develop everything the site has. And when the entire site - which is the Polish original version and passably perfect here contained its English mirror - will be build finally, I will can drink a water, then most probably won't be any updates or will be published reviews only, but very rarely... Who knows, what the life will bring... But the steady plan related to the site is, and the finishing line as well. But till that time, still maaany meetings of ahead. The next one in the next year... Any questions? Now it's Your best chance to propose Your ideas! I'll reply to every... Maybe it's still worth to add something else to those discographies? ...Hmm? :-) All the best = "Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland"!
