Khooman is Edward Trunov, musician from Moscow which premiered disc is called "Is A Flexible Liquid". The whole CD was compiled and produced only by this artist. Edward is creating since 2000, Khooman project exist since 2001. His "Is A Flexible Liquid" is the seventh CD from the Holland label Ajana Records and at the same time this is the fifth artist album from this label which without these CDs has present also two parts of "A Magical Journey" compilation. Khooman's album has got a nice and a mysterious cover which coldness direct us to unknown spaces of cosmos and leaves us a place for a dose of fairy tale in this convention.

I will describe identification signs of another tracks but these "identification signs" are unusually in the case of this CD results of a moment - it's because tracks are quite similiar to each other, but it's not mean that we have different versions of one tracks. Track number one titled "Slide!" is a bit pesimistic travel across the cosmos. Next, "Helpless" is a jaunty track with levitating acid lines. Track number three is my favourite composition from this CD - "Below The River Flows" is a composition simply like a fairy-tale. Pleasantly, magicial, guitar melody assist us almost through the whole track, but monotony is a good point in this situation. "Let Me Out" is a sleepy track: calm, with a lot of space in the background, but next we have quite a lot of twisted acid lines and a guitar in a small role. Track number five is "Fly" - a melodic fusion of acid and guitar. "A New View" is a landscape of dark and grotesque tale. Next is "It's Only Dust On The Road" which is a boundless of chaotic space, hard to define. And the last track called "Shaman Desert" manufacture us a very calm and nostalgic journey.

The CD contain eight tracks which denominator is assembled from three parts. For the first: this is psychedelic dub. For the second: the tracks contains almost only electronic sounds (also plus guitar because its sound is very synthetic). For the third: we have a lot of effects (but for psybient it's of course a standard): reverb, delay, echo; in acid lines case also active change of resonance and cut. These effects are powerfully highlighted and it's hard to not to notice them. Without no doubt it's one of elements of Khooman's style. What about other components? The bass is deep exactly as for dub, its role is huge, but also isn't a power side (virtue) of Khooman's technique. The melodies aren't maybe a very exciting ones but they are merged nice with atmosphere of cosmic solitude (about solitude I will also talk later). The percussion is on the second plan. The ends of tracks are irritating - they're too simply; the last two minutes of "Shaman Desert" are all the time the same.

When we listen to "Is A Flexible Liquid" we can feel like in a psychedelic imagined fairyland. The biggest plus of this this CD is excatly that atmosphere which Edward has created. It's connected with the cover which is in my opinion the perfect reflection of the music from the disc. This music is like a solitude with a magic. Solitude, because these sounds are cosmic, alienated, mysterious, frugally and moisturized with reverb. Magic, because this is the sound of all melodies. But in general: it's not the album in which you can be in love immediately - it's very specific, have this in mind.
