Nelson Jara Dos Santos. This is name of the only one artist that stand behind Mind Distortion System project. So far, this Belgian-Portuguese musician released his compositions only on a few compilations, but now we have "He Claims To Be Not Human" - his first album, which is presented to us by Dutch Trishula Records.

The album is offering plenty of whistle sounds, sharpen dynamism and atmosphere that reflect mechanical and infernal reality. Because very dark this CD is. The music here is generating rush by a massive bass, but which couldn't be easily listen to when a typical daily listening willingness is coming to you. The sounds' keenness, in general, not allow to do this. There aren't moments here, which could provoke you to listen this CD in your time adjusted for psytrance music. Adjusted for dark psytrance - for sure yes, though it would be better to say: in the time destined for a really powerful dark psytrance. The reason behind this is that there aren't any melodies or pads here. "Any" in a conservative sense (because after all anything can be named as a melody, especially in psy-music, so I will stay in a traditional view of this word). Even the samples used by Nelson don't change this state, since they are equally colourful as that shots from synthesizer machineguns which echo stay in mind after hearing this album. Also "He Claims To Be Not Human" is missing - though now I will be saying in a category of bad point - a diversity. We have autonomical and with verve done compositions, but not every one of them are so good. About a half of them are repeating something that was heard before in this CD. There isn't an intrigue. This is why I will recall three more original examples of Nelson's work: for sure "Dead Swan" is impressing because of its very metallic plen-air and "Herbal Analysis" because we have quite different bass than in other tracks and this definitely change the sounds' expression of this composition, the third example is "Koshka" for its "ambient" background: these sounds are like from a surrealistic garden builded on other planet.

MDS' sound system is based on kicks, bass and aggressive sounds. We have 78 minutes of these structures. But mentioned lack of diversity cause that, unfortunately, this release is a little disappointing one. In comparision with this album, the previous album released by Trishula (Attoya's "Based On True Events") can be described as a melodic goa.
