"Off The Ground" is the second album by Oforia who's Ofer Dikovsky - one of the most important Israeli goa music artists of 90s. His first album - "Delirious" - was released in 1998. Before this, he created f.e. in Indoor group (with Avi Algranati and Marko Goren) and solo in Pigs In Space project (also it is important to mention about his great involving in Tandu and Phreaky). "Off The Ground" was released in digipack by Israeli label NMC Music which isn't associated so much with the goa/psytrance scene.
In the beginning we have two very good tracks. "Bionic Dog" is pulsating and piercing. "Raw" is sharp and mechanical. On the third track, as the name say - "The Morning Song" - we have a morning formula. This is energetic track with infantile, too simple as for what Ofer could do, melody. Next composition, titled "Aquatech", return with its sound to the expression of the first two tracks. Although it's quite optimistic here, we have many alien sounds typical only for Oforia. Very good track. "Visionary Existance" is like a musical performance of sunset in my opinion; this is another very good composition. Agressive squall we have in a form of "E-Motion". Many strong, dark and alien sounds. Main motive from this cybernetic track is quite simple, though in my opinion it's excellent for this landscape. Great track. The seventh composition - "Van Alien" - is simply weird. It's not a bad one for sure, good in minimum, but really difficult do describe. Without a doubt a uniqueness is one of the Oforia's virtues. Last phase of "Off The Ground" CD have two chillout, very nice compositions: "New Frontier" and "Voice Of Delusion". First three minutes of "New Frontier" is a very beautiful atmosphere of a mystery. Then this atmosphere is changing into sentimental and optimistic image. And the first minute of "Voice Of Delusion" is one of the most beautiful ambient visions I've ever heard - this can't be described within the words! But then we have a different atmosphere: very, very optymistic - this is not in my opinion a beautiful stroke of a brush of a mentioned short ecstasy from the beginning.
"Off The Ground" have many psychedelic sounds, its dynamic is powerfull and is extremely metallic. In the emotions this album offer two radicalismes: smile of the optimism or agression of the dark. The style of this CD is very characteristic, not everyone will like it. Looking from the distant perspective: the evolution of Ofer sound can be easily observed. This artist is growing up, but heading still with his own inimitable way of creating psytrance trips.
