Sun Control Species is a project created by Australian musician Andrew Davidsona, known also (but less) for his second act called Wombat. "Scienza Nuova" is his first album; CD was released in Danish Iboga Records. On discography account by this Andrew's project we have also several tracks inluded on progressive compilations.
I'll come straight to the point. Tracks contained on the CD are very similiar to each other and they're not a challenge. Their action is based on similiar mechanisms, known well for Iboga's listeners. Only two tracks deserves on special attention for me. "Only Human (A Day In Forever)" sounds quite fresh, though absolutely nothing innovating is here. I focus on the first track probably because next compositions are just similiar variations - they're not the remixes but they sounds like that. So another one that is good to looking forward to is a three-minutes title track based on the fourth track because it's a chillout and also nicely fitted into the other dynamic colours of this CD. Besides these two tracks it's really difficult for me to find other goods.
Summarizing the conclusion, about "Scienza Nuova" album can be sayed the same things, that about other new Iboga's CDs: good dancing music that draw many from house style. Personally I feel a weariness when I'm listening to it many times, nothing special happens on it. It's technically excellent, no doubt, but also doesn't have an element of spontaneity that is characteristic for psytrance - the style from Iboga's prog was born.
