Beginning of new era
"Active Agent Of Sound" is a masterpiece of ambient music. Responsible for that is German label named Klangwirkstoff Records. Not very known - fact, but it's because this is its first physical release, from 2007. And as well unusually carefully preparated: we have digipack, two CDs in it (155 minutes of music) and eight-pages booklet with text by Hans Cousto. Before this release the label showed in 2006, unfortunately only in digital format, Brain Entertainment Laboratory's album: "In Ovo - Live At Fusion Festival 2005". I don't know if it's a good one, because I haven't heard it yet - but I know, and I can yell out this, that just "Active Agent Of Sound" is a title extremely interesting, marvelous. This impression was born in my soul just after the first listening to this compilation. Is still with me. I feel, will be for ever.
Art as tone and overtone
The most beautiful aspect of music contained on these two CDs is a presentation of absolutely every colour of the Cosmos. There are abstract, experimental and demanding concentration tracks here. There are also tracks here that in a quite easy way allow to listen intently into them, to experience them - and even without headphones - almost from its first second. If we could see the spectrum of emotions that they all create, then a measure of multicolours would be needed - though with a little more dark majority. We experience optimism, but in general there is more pessimistic, technologic (as long as this emotion is existing), sadly feels: main current of emotions is directed for neutral feelings, created oftentimes by amelodiousness, which is difficult to express from impressions into words. All the sounds that create these emotions are weaving and goes into depth in right moments ending with imagination's manipulating effect. Everything is naturally depending on composition: majority represents something very own, big minority is similiar to each other (I have on mind in this case mainly the last tracks of both CDs) - but I want to mark this isn't any kind of a bad point. The compilation is two-discs and its easily perceptible chorus-throaty buckles only highlight its conception's borders. In the middle many things are happen, we have very stable sound. It was perfectly compiled around cosmic's core of emotional diversity and technical diversity as well.
Physical material
Although I had state it's cosmic ambient, i.e. that is gathering themes of distance visualisation, abstract - because after all any visualisation of mute cosmos (Vacuum, main sphere of Cosmos, don't have human's ear sense) is a complete abstraction, we have here earth motives. First of all, quite a lot of compositions contain human's sounds: voices, monologues, throat singing (on that last are builded those mentioned-above buckles). Moreover, a few tracks individually have something from human's objects: "Flex-E-Fun" have a piano, "Tal" have a contrabass, "Balmer Series" have a guitar; this aren't all examples. In this whole music there is also sampel of classical music, radio's programme, sounds of percussions, percussions loops, backgrounds of virgins, country Earth's plein-airs, prayers of Indian tribe. Therefore there are samples of nature, a planet - the question is, are these sounds always just from that our planet? But remain in the impression, that everyone of them are as much isolated, that they are nearest us on the orbit. (They are not living side by side with us; they are in the space between the Earth's orbit and the absolute end of the Universe). This situation is f.e. in "Flex-E-Fun" - the sounds are warm, they are levitating, you want to touch(!) them, you want to hold(!) them and fly away together with them. Not cosmic pads are the background here, but that earth's sounds - thanks to them the whole is perhaps even more colourful, more lively. "Perhaps" - this is really a precisely state, because in fact every interview with this music is different; we focus always on different motives, we mine sounds, we interpret. It's possible that f.e. my next listening to this compilation will finish with such a conclusion that the music is more earthly than cosmic. This only confirm a gigantic virtue of this music, the whole music, the whole art: interpretative freedom allowed by such a piece. This compilation is so ambiguous in the aspect of what can be see through its sounds, that create itself a foundation for a work of genius, because brilliantly is the situation when every time is different.
Mental materia
But this, that interpretations we have, no matter what is only a complement to the main picture ensuing after just first contact: beautiful, beautiful, beautiful pads in the sophisticated arrangements, harmoniously conducted so much, that more than once it'll be a bigger pleasure to spend a time with them, than in the real world. This aesthetic fall into us instantly and then we are discovering thousands of secrets of this compilation at its bidding. After the first listening to it, this music says: "you know I am a marvelous music, so leave the issue of my valuable, quality, focus on my depth". And this is happen: you will not treat it like a usual music, but thanks to its sophistication you will decide to re-fresh the mind, to do a real love with the art. Especially two fragments from the whole universe created by Klangwirkstoff I desire in this situation to express in a more fully descrpition, in the way a little more interpretative (depth of sound) than qualitative (on which sound it was builded). On the disc number one celestial experiences you can find on the fourth track - "Solardrifting" by Brain Entertainment Laboratory. In the first half of this composition appear a melancholy chorus, which background emanate with solitude and feeling, that the whole world bow before us. I miss so big - as these sounds - words for descrpition a way of how the track's arrangement evolve, how the sounds come into each other and becomes new one, they are born. While on the second CD totally futuristic experiences I found a number of times on the track also fourth - "Chronos" by Morphon. The last of its phaze is a pad (chorus-like) vision of industrial, dark world, where the sun's brightness stop in the atmosphere, and just small part of that light creates an alientaed, hazy gleam over the three-kilometres architecture. These two ecstasies are just a part of this compilation's live - every chapter of sounds (rather like this we should detail sectors of this music, not as particular tracks of the CD) have something rare in it. The level of smoothness and a development of arrangement, direction of emiotions overtone - there is no vices here, everything was polished, polished to the completely perfection.
Soul's teleportation
Sometimes you will be on the circumterrestrial's orbit. Sometimes you will absorb your own into the sphere of black hole's gravity. Sometimes you will lonely visit a lonely planet. Sometimes world's tomorrow you will see... Portal for that you will find on the Earth, in "Active Agent Of Sound".
